It’s where we give
Aware is the Holm social cause program. It’s where we give back and do our bit for the planet. Our oceans are increasingly compromised by pollution, overfishing, and the damaging effects of climate change. They cover approximately 70% of the planet but alarmingly, less than 8% has any sort of environmental protection. Through sponsorship and funding grants, Holm is supporting PADI in their mission to protect 30% of our oceans by 2030.
Over the next 10 years, the PADI Decade of Ocean Action will work to:
Rid the oceans of marine debris
Reduce marine debris by 50% in targeted countries through partnerships and the PADI Aware Community Grant Program.
Multiply Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)
Protect 30% of the ocean through partner collaboration and expansion of the Adopt a Dive Site program.
Protect endangered and vulnerable marine species
Protect 20 vulnerable shark and ray species by displaying in-country conservation campaigns.
Accelerate coral reef recovery and restoration
Restore 5% of Coral reef habitats through citizen science programs and project funding for key coral reef habitats.
Reduce and offset the dive industry’s carbon footprint
Achieve carbon neutrality across the PADI organisation and mobilise PADI Torchbearers to restore seagrass habitats.
HOLM joins with PADI to help protect 30% of our oceans by 2030.
For over 30 years, PADI Aware has been a dedicated voice for the protection of the marine environment. Holm is proud to be the first Australian company to join the fight by supporting PADI Aware directly through sponsorship and funding for specific projects and research. Together, our aim is to increase the number of marine protected areas (MPAs) around the globe over the coming decade. A connected system of highly protected areas will provide sanctuary for threatened marine species, livelihoods for millions of inhabitants of coastal communities, and increase the ocean’s resilience to climate change. As a developer of coastal properties, our connection with the ocean runs deep. So does our support for the marine environment.
